A new Cancer Care Ontario research study has found digital direct radiography (DR) and screen film to be more effective at detecting breast cancer than digital computed radiography (CR). NHH has been providing DR mammography since February 2006. Prior to this, NHH used screen film technology. CR mammography has never been offered at NHH.

Everyone plays an important role in preventing infections in the hospital - including visitors. That's why visitors will be the focus of STOP! Clean Your Hands Day on Monday, May 6th at Northumberland Hills Hospital.
The recipients of Northumberland Hills Hospital's annual Health Professions Scholarships were announced at the Board's May meeting on Thursday, May 2nd. Katelyn Wallace and Jenna Dickson were both recognized with cheques for $1,000.
Northumberland Hills Hospital is pleased to announce that it has been awarded "Accredited" status from Accreditation Canada, an independent, not-for-profit organization that conducts reviews of health organizations around the globe and sets standards for quality and safety in health care.
Doug Mann, Chair of Northumberland Hills Hospital's Board of Directors, announced at the April 4th Board meeting that Helen Brenner, presently Vice President of Patient Services and Chief Nursing Executive (CNE), has accepted the Board's offer of the position of Interim President and CEO, effective April 15th, 2013. President and CEO Robert Biron, who announced in February that he would be leaving NHH to take on the position of President and CEO at The Scarborough Hospital, will be winding down his duties at NHH in the coming weeks.
The Directors of the Board of Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) have approved a balanced Operating Budget and Service Plan for the hospital for the 2013/2014 fiscal year commencing April 1st.
On the evening of Monday, March 11th, 2013, beginning at approximately 2000hrs (8:00 PM), annual maintenance will be performed on the electrical switch gears at Northumberland Hills Hospital on 1000 DePalma Drive. Intermittent power disruptions may be experienced throughout the building while testing occurs. Elevator service will be unavailable for an interval of 40 consecutive minutes between 10:00 PM March 11th and 1:00 AM March 12th.
The deadline for applications to the Northumberland Hills Hospital's annual Health Professions Scholarship Program has been extended. Applications for the 2013 awards are now due by Friday, March 15th.
