Love Locks Cobourg
Inspired by an ancient custom where lovers lock a padlock on a chain or a bridge and throw away the key, the NHH Foundation’s Youth Cares Committee (YCC) has teamed up with the Town of Cobourg to introduce a unique way to support NHH while at the same time symbolically celebrating or honouring a loved one. Purchase a padlock to lock onto Cobourg’s new “Love Lock” bridge on Saturday, May 18th from 11-3 in conjunction with the Cobourg Music Experience weekend. Purchasing a lock symbolizes everlasting love and hope for either a love one you have with you today, or in memory of a loved one who has passed on. Your love will forever be “locked” right here in our own community.
Padlocks can be purchased through the Foundation office at a cost of $25. THe YCC will also be selling locks at Davis' Independent on Saturday, May 4th from 10-2 and in Cobourg on Saturday, May 11th (location TBD). Proceeds raised from Love Locks will purchase a new vital-signs monitor for the hospital. For more details, please check out Love Locks Cobourg on Facebook, or the Cobourg Music Experience Website.

Spencer West lost his legs when he was just five years old, but he hasn’t let that stop him from achieving tremendous accomplishments in his life. Whether it is helping build a school in Kenya, or reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro solely by using his arms, Spencer inspires millions of people to overcome their challenges and reach even the most seemingly impossible of goals.
Since he began speaking, Spencer has reached over 1.8 million people including students, educators, corporations, faith-based groups, and families with his encouraging words and captivated audiences of thousands at We Day events around the world.
Spencer has shared the stage with such influential people as His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Mia Farrow, Dr. Jane Goodall, Noble Laureate Elie Wiesel, and musician Jason Mraz.
Spencer is the author of his moving memoir, Standing Tall: My Journey, which chronicles his life story and epiphany that he was made different “for a reason.”
