Single Gift
This is the best way to ensure your gift is making the greatest impact. Gifts can be in the form of cash, cheques, credit cards, stocks, bonds, insurance policies or property.
Call the Foundation Offfice at 905-372-6811 ext. 3066 to make your gift, print off the Donation Form or give securely on-line thru CanadaHelps.
Monthly Gift (Friends of the Foundation Monthly Giving Club)
To make giving directly as convenient as possible, we can set up an individual monthly giving program that meets your needs. Or, how about a yearly pledge? Bequests/A Gift in your Will
The most common planned gift, a charitable bequest, is a donation made through your will.
You can choose to leave Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation a specific piece of property, a pre-determined sum of money, or a percentage of your estate. For suggested bequest language, please contact rcunningham@nhh.ca.
By carefully planning your bequest, you can eliminate significant taxes payable upon your death. Your estate may claim gifts in the year of death, equal to 100% of your net income in that year and in the year preceding death.

Appreciated Securities
Did you know that if you donate your appreciated securities to Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation, you pay no tax on capital gains?
When individuals sell an appreciated stock, mutual fund or flow-through shares, they are required to pay tax on 50% of the capital gain. However, if they donate the securities to charity, they pay no capital gains tax! This makes appreciated stock one of the most cost effective ways to donate to Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.

RRSP’s/RRIF’s
Your retirement funds are amongst the most heavily taxed assets you own. However, when Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation is designated as a direct beneficiary of a registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) or registered retirement income fund (RRIF), these taxes are offset at the time of death. Your gift will be treated as a charitable donation in the year of death and Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation will issue a donation receipt for the full amount being transferred to it.
The gift is simple to make – you name Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation as a direct beneficiary on the plan document and advise the institution holding your retirement account of the change.
Life Insurance
A gift of life insurance is a creative way for you to build our long term financial strength without diminishing your own – even a relatively small commitment can provide significant benefits for NHH Foundation. There are many ways for you to make a gift using life insurance.

You may donate a paid-up life insurance policy that has now outlived its original purpose by naming Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation the owner and beneficiary of your policy and receive an immediate donate receipt for the cash surrender value of the policy.

You may gift an existing policy on which premiums are still being paid by transferring ownership to Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation and receiving donation receipts for all future premium payments.

You make a gift by purchasing a new policy on your life, naming Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation as the owner and beneficiary and receiving tax receipts for all future premium payments.

You may retain ownership of your policy and name Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation as the direct beneficiary and, upon your passing, your estate will receive a donation receipt for the value of the policy.
