As a result of the April 30th, 2010 closure of the Northumberland Hills Hospital Diabetes Program, effective May 1, 2010 all inpatient and outpatient referrals will now be made to an external diabetes education program.

To assist with appropriate referrals, the following has been prepared to provide details on Diabetes Education Programs available in the community.  With the exception of the Charles H. Best Diabetes Centre in Whitby, all area diabetes education services accept direct referrals from patients or family members, as well as from members of a health discipline (physician, nurse, dietitian, etc.)

The letter, which reached the Hospital late last week, announced: “Accreditation Canada has reviewed the results from your on-site survey and is pleased to inform you that the decision awarded to your organization is Accreditation.”
